Abhayarishta

Abhayarishtam is known in Ayurveda, as the “king of medicine”. Abhayarishtam or Abhayarishta is a potent ayurvedic concoction used for treating a myriad of ailments including piles, constipation, dysuria, flatulence, anuria, gas and abdominal distension.

अभयायास्तुलामेकां मृद्विकार्धतुलां तथा |
विंदंगस्य दशपलं  मधूककुसुमस्य च ||
चतुर्द्रोण जले पक्त्वा चतुर्भागावशोषिते |
शीतीभूमे रसे तस्मिन् पूते गुडतुलां क्षिपेत् ||
श्वदंष्ट्रां त्रिवृतं धान्यं धातकीमिन्द्रवारुणीं |
चव्यं मधुरिकां शुंठी दंतीं मोचरसं तथा ||
पलयुग्ममिदं सर्वं पात्रे महति मृण्मये |
क्षिप्त्बा संरुध्य तत्पात्रं मासमात्रं निधापयेत् ||
ततोजातरसं ज्ञात्वा परिस्राव्य रसं नयेत् |
बलं कोष्टं च वह्निं च वीक्ष्यमात्रां प्रयोजयेत् ||
अर्शांसि नाशयेच्छिघ्रं तथाष्टावुदराणि च |
वर्चोन्मूत्रविबन्धघ्नो वह्निंसंदीपयेत्परम् ||

vindaṅgasya daśapalaṁ  madhūkakusumasya ca ||
caturdrōṇa jalē paktvā caturbhāgāvaśōṣitē |
śītībhūmē rasē tasmin pūtē guḍatulāṁ kṣipēt ||
śvadanṣṭrāṁ trivr̥taṁ dhānyaṁ dhātakīmindravāruṇīṁ |
cavyaṁ madhurikāṁ śuṇṭhī dantīṁ mōcarasaṁ tathā ||
palayugmamidaṁ sarvaṁ pātrē mahati mr̥ṇmayē |
kṣiptbā sanrudhya tatpātraṁ māsamātraṁ nidhāpayēt ||
tatōjātarasaṁ jñātvā parisrāvya rasaṁ nayēt |
balaṁ kōṣṭaṁ ca vahniṁ ca vīkṣyamātrāṁ prayōjayēt ||
arśānsi nāśayēcchighraṁ tathāṣṭāvudarāṇi ca |
varcōnmūtravibandhaghnō vahninsandīpayētparam ||

Benefits and Therapeutic Uses —

Cures Piles

It is a powerful laxative, and is extensively used for preventing and treating piles or haemorrhoids.

Relieves Constipation

It increases secretion of bile by the liver, in turn, acts on the peristalsis movement of the intestines and liver, thereby allowing smooth faecal passage from the large intestine.

Promotes Digestion

Abhayarishtam is a powerful digestive stimulant. Helps in the breaking down of food particles in the stomach and intestine, promotes the secretion of the digestive juices and thereby increases the absorption of essential nutrients.

Dosage —

  • In children — 0.5 ml per Kg of body weight
  • In Adults — 15 – 30 ml
  • Maximum possible dosage — 60ml
  • Not recommended in Pregnancy.
  • The Time — Immediately after meal

Adjuvants —

  • In Bleeding Piles — Arshoghni Vati
  • Non bleeding piles — Kankayan Gutika
  • Abdominal Bloating — In chronic cases, Arogyavardhini vati or Lasunadi vati
  • In cases of Hard Stools — consume cow’s ghee or almond oil with warm water/milk 30 minutes before the intake of this medicine.

Side effects —

Not recommended in Pregnancy.
