Agnimukha Churna is an ayurvedic appetizer and digestive stimulant medicine. It alleviates Vayu. It cures Udavarta (flatulence), Indigestion and Spleen disorders. It stimulates the power of digestion.
The Reference Shloka —
हिङ्गुभागो भवेदेको वचा च द्विगुणा भवेत् |
पिप्पली त्रिगुणा प्रोक्ता शृङ्गवेरं चतुर्गुणम् || ६१ ||
यमानिका पञ्चगुणा षड्गुणा च हरीतकी |
चित्रकं सप्तगुणितं कुष्टमष्टगुणं भवेत् || ६२ ||
एतद्वातहरं चूर्णं पीतमात्रं प्रसन्नया |
पिबेद्ध्ना मस्तुना वा सुरवा कोष्णवारिणा || ६३ ||
सोदावर्त्तमजीर्णञ्च प्लिहानमुदरं तथा |
अङ्गानि यस्य शीर्यन्ते विषं वा येन भक्षितम् ||६४ ||
अर्शोहरं दीपनञ्च शूलघ्नं गुल्मनाशनम् |
कासं श्वासं निहन्त्याशु तथैव क्षयनाशनम् || ६५ ||
चूर्णमग्निमुखं नाम न क्वचित्प्रतिहन्यते || ६६ ||
hiṅgubhāgo bhavedeko vacā ca dviguṇā bhavet |
pippalī triguṇā proktā śṛṅgaveraṃ caturguṇam || 61 ||
yamānikā pañcaguṇā ṣaḍguṇā ca harītakī |
citrakaṃ saptaguṇitaṃ kuṣṭamaṣṭaguṇaṃ bhavet || 62 ||
etadvātaharaṃ cūrṇaṃ pītamātraṃ prasannayā |
pibeddhnā mastunā vā suravā koṣṇavāriṇā || 63 ||
sodāvarttamajīrṇañca plihānamudaraṃ tathā |
aṅgāni yasya śīryante viṣaṃ vā yena bhakṣitam ||64 ||
arśoharaṃ dīpanañca śūlaghnaṃ gulmanāśanam |
kāsaṃ śvāsaṃ nihantyāśu tathaiva kṣayanāśanam || 65 ||
cūrṇamagnimukhaṃ nāma na kvacitpratihanyate || 66 ||
The Ingredients —
- Hingu — Asafoetida
- Vacha — Acorus calamus
- Pippali — Piper longum
- Sringavera (Shunti) — Zingiber officinale
- Yavani — Trachyspermum ammi
- Haritaki — Terminalia chebula
- Chitraka — Plumbago zeylanica
- Kushta — Saussurea lappa
The Indications —
- Agnimandhya — Loss of Appetite
- Anaha — Flatulence
- Aadhmana — Bloating or abdominal distension
- Intestinal gas
- Ajeerna — Indigestion
- Vibandha — Constipation
- Incomplete bowel evacuation
- Pleehodara — Spleen disorders
- Arshas — Non-bleeding hemorrhoids
- Abdominal pain due to gas
The Dosage —
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon two or three times daily
- In case of Anorexia or Loss of Appetite — Before meal
- In cases of Indigestion, Intestinal Gas and Bloating — After a meal
- Adjuvant — Lukewarm water
The Side effects of Agnimukha Churna —
If it is used by any individual suffering from increased Pitta or aggravated Pitta Dosha, he might experience the following side effects:
- Heartburn
- Burning sensation in abdomen
- Acid reflux
- Vertigo
- Burning sensation around anorectal area during or after defecation
The Contraindications —
The people with the following health conditions should not intake Agnimukh Churna:
- Heartburn
- Acid reflux
- Ulcers
- Epigastric pain and tenderness
- Ulcerative colitis
- Bleeding disorders
- Bleeding piles
- Vertigo
- Agnimukha Churna should not be used during pregnancy.
