Ajirnam (Dyspepsia)

Dyspepsia is a discomfort, mostly associated with burning pain, commonly seen in Peptic Ulcer. There will be poor appetite, nausea, constipation, belching and sounds in abdomen.

Causes of Dyspepsia–

  1. H -Pylori
  2. Gall Stones
  3. NSAIDS and aspirin abuse
  4. Stomach cancer
  5. In some cases anxiety, functional dyspepsia is seen.

Investigations —

  1. Hb
  2. Bilirubin
  3. SGPT (ALT), SGOT (AST)
  4. S.Amylase, lipase
  5. USG — Abdomen, pelvis
  6. Endoscopy — Upper GI
  7. Urine Routine

A. Ulcer dyspepsia

Here Vidagda ajirna chikitsa and Jwara chikitsa should be done. Tikta, Madhura, Kashaya rasa drugs are selected.

Kashayam —

  1. Guduchyadi Kashayam
  2. Mrdvikadi Kashayam
  3. Chandanadi Kashayam
  4. Saribadi Kashayam
  5. Shadangam Kashayam
  6. Kalyanakam Kashayam

Ghrita — (Anupana warm water or milk)

  1. Indukantha Ghrita
  2. Kalyanaka Ghrita
  3. Tiktaka Ghrita
  4. Shatavari Ghrita

Lehyam —

  1. Parushakadi Lehyam
  2. Kalyanaka Gudam

Gulika —

  1. Sudarshana Vati
  2. Dhanvantara Gulika
  3. Shankha Vati

B. Non Ulcer Dyspepsia

Gulma Chikitsa should be done, that is Kapha Vata shamanam and Agni deepana drugs are selected.

Kashayam —

  1. Ardhavilvam kashayam
  2. Chiravilvadi Kashayam
  3. Gandharvahastadi Kashayam
  4. Indukantha Kashayam
  5. Varanadi Kashayam

Churnam —

  1. Vaishvanara Churna
  2. Panchakola Churna

  5. Hinguvachadi Churna
  6. Avipathi Churna
  7. Ashta Churna

Gulika —

  1. Hinguvachadi Gulika
  2. Dhanvantara Gulika
  3. Chitrakadi Gulika

Lehyam —

  1. Kalyanaka Gudam
  2. Trivrt Lehyam

Ghritam —

  1. Indukantha Ghrita

Aasavam / Arishtam —

  1. Abhayarishtam
