Chinchadi Lehyam

Chinchadi lehyam is suitable for persons suffering from general weakness, low weight, low appetite in children and adults. It is a health tonic suitable for gaining immunity from recurrent infections and weight. 

Bad breath
The Shloka —

प्रकुंचोजीर्णचिञ्चायाः पञ्च जीर्णगुडस्य च |
दश लोहस्य किट्टस्य द्वौ द्वौ बिल्वविडंगयोः ||   
चिनोषणत्र्यूषणानां श्रेष्टाजीरकयुग्मयोः |
त्रिजातयष्टीरस्नानां जातीफलदलस्य च ||
एतेषां पृथगर्धार्धं योजयेन्मातिमान् भिषक् |
एतच्चिञ्चादिकं नाम लेहं माक्षिकसेवितं ||
तक्रेण वा रुचिकरं दीपनं पाण्डुनाशनं |
त्वगादिषु च पीतत्वं दाहतृष्णोष्णकामिलाः ||
अम्लकं श्वासवैगन्ध्यं  घोरानन्यांश्च वायुजान् |
दशरात्रानातिक्रांतं ज्वरंचाशु निवर्तयेत् ||

prakuṁcojīrṇaciñcāyāḥ pañca jīrṇaguḍasya ca |
daśa lohasya kiṭṭasya dvau dvau bilvaviḍaṁgayoḥ ||
cinoṣaṇatryūṣaṇānāṁ śreṣṭājīrakayugmayoḥ |
trijātayaṣṭīrasnānāṁ jātīphaladalasya ca ||
eteṣāṁ pr̥thagardhārdhaṁ yojayenmātimān bhiṣak |
etacciñcādikaṁ nāma lehaṁ mākṣikasevitaṁ ||
takreṇa vā rucikaraṁ dīpanaṁ pāṇḍunāśanaṁ |
tvagādiṣu ca pītatvaṁ dāhatr̥ṣṇoṣṇakāmilāḥ ||
amlakaṁ śvāsavaigandhyaṁ ghorānanyāṁśca vāyujān |
daśarātrānātikrāṁtaṁ jvaraṁcāśu nivartayet ||

  2. Jeerna Guda — Old Jaggery
  3. Loha Bhasma
  4. Kitta
  5. Bilwa — Aegle marmelos
  6. Vidanga — Embelia ribes
  7. Chinoshana (Lavanga?)
  8. Trayushana — Pippali (Piper longum) + Maricha (Piper nigrum) + Sunthi (Zingiber officinale)
  9. Sreshta (Triphala) — Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) + Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) + Bhibhitaki(Terminalia bellirica)
  10. Jeeraka Yugma — Jeeraka (Cuminum cyminum) + Krishna Jeeraka
  11. Trijataka — Twak (Cinnamum zeylanicum)+ Ela (Elettaria cardamomum) Patra (Cinnamomum tamala)
  12. Yashti — Glycyrrhiza glabra
  13. Rasna — Pluchea lanceolata
  14. Jatiphala dala — Myristica fragrans

Indications —

  1. Deepana —
  2. Pandu — Anemia  
  3. Kamala — Jaundice
  4. Daha — Burning sensations
  5. Trishna — Thirst
  6. Amlapitta — Acidity
  7. Swasa — Difficulty in breathing
  8. Dourgandhya — Bad breath problems
  9. Vata Roga — All disorders of Vata
  10. Purana Jwara — Chronic Fever
Dosage:            

1/4-1/2 or 3-6grms with buttermilk or honey once or twice or as directed by the physician.

Time: Immediately after meals

Contraindications of Chinchadi Lehyam —

  • Avoid if you are a diabetic
  • High doses can cause stomach irritation
