Dhanvantara Taila

Dhanvantara Taila is an ayurvedic taila formulation which is used to treat Vata Rogas , Sutika Roga (In pregnancy related problems), Bala Roga (problems related to children), Marma, Asthi Kshata (Spondylosis), Jwara (Fever), Gulma (Tumors), Unmada, Mutraghata, Antra vriddhi, Yoni roga, Kshaya.


Dhanvantara taila helps in pacifying Vata Aggravation and acts as a nervine tonic, neuro protective, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and Anti-paralytic. The oral intake can help to treat a wide range of neurological disorders and diseases of the musculo skeletal system. Its internal use acts on the nerves, muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and connective tissues.

Its external application provides a sense of relief in pain, numbness, and swelling. It provides strength to the muscles and joints.

The Shloka —

बलामूलकषायस्य भागा भागाष्षट् पयसस्तथा |
यवकोलकुलुत्थानां दशमूलस्य चैकतः ||

निष्क्वाथभागो भागश्च तैलस्य च चतुर्दश |
द्विमेदादारुमञ्जिष्टाकाकोलीद्वयचन्दनैः ||

सारिवाकुष्टतगरजीवकर्षभसैन्धवैः |
कालानुसारीशैलेयवचा अगुरुपुनर्नवैः ||

अश्वगन्धावरीक्षीरशुक्लायष्टीवरारसैः |
शताह्वाशूर्पपर्णिएलात्वक्पत्रैः श्लक्षणकल्कितैः ||

पक्वं मृद्विग्निना तैलं सर्वंवातविकारजित् |
सूतिकाबालमर्मास्थिक्षतक्षीणेषु पूजितं ||

ज्वरगुल्मग्रहोन्मादमूत्राघातान्त्रवृद्धिजित् |
धन्वन्तरेरभिमतं योनिरोगक्षयापहं ||

balāmūlakaṣāyasya bhāgā bhāgāṣṣaṭ payasastathā |
yavakōlakulutthānāṁ daśamūlasya caikataḥ ||
niṣkvāthabhāgō bhāgaśca tailasya ca caturdaśa |
dvimēdādārumañjiṣṭākākōlīdvayacandanaiḥ ||
sārivākuṣṭatagarajīvakarṣabhasaindhavaiḥ |
kālānusārīśailēyavacā agurupunarnavaiḥ ||
aśvagandhāvarīkṣīraśuklāyaṣṭīvarārasaiḥ |
śatāhvāśūrpaparṇiēlātvakpatraiḥ ślakṣaṇakalkitaiḥ ||
pakvaṁ mr̥dvigninā tailaṁ sarvanvātavikārajit |
sūtikābālamarmāsthikṣatakṣīṇēṣu pūjitaṁ ||
jvaragulmagrahōnmādamūtrāghātāntravr̥ddhijit |
dhanvantarērabhimataṁ yōnirōgakṣayāpahaṁ ||

Dhanvantara Taila has the following properties —

The Indications —

Dhavantaram tailam is indicated in all the 80 Vata roga. Many of these diseases are related to disorders of the nervous system and musculoskeletal system. Its internal use is beneficial as a uterine tonic and used after delivery in women for restoring the natural pre-pregnancy size of the uterus and preventing its weakness.

The Usage —

Dhanvantaram Tailam is used to massage or apply locally as per the requirement of the patient.
