Dhatryarishta

Dhatryarishta is an Ayurvedic medicine coming under the category of Arishta Prakarana. Dhatryarishta is used to treat Pandu (Anemia), Hridroga ( Heart diseases), Vatarakta (Joint pains), Vishama Jwara (Fever), Kasa (Cough), Hikka (Hiccups), Aruchi (Loss of taste) and Swasa (Asthma).

The Main actions of Dhatryarishta is observed on the digestive system. It also improves the absorption of iron, so it is highly helpful to treat anemia.

The reference shloka —

धात्रीफलसहस्रे द्वे पीडयित्वा रसं भिषक् |
क्षौद्राष्ट भागं पिप्पल्याः चुर्णार्ध कुडवान्वितं ||  

शर्करार्धतुलोन्मिश्रं पक्वं स्निग्धघटे स्थितं |
प्रपिबेत्पाण्डुरोगार्तो जीर्णो हितमिताशनः ||
कामिलापाण्डुहृद्रोगवातासृग्विषमज्वरान् |
कासहिक्कारुचिश्वासानेषो अरिष्टः प्रणाशयेत् ||

dhātrīphalasahasre dve pīḍayitvā rasaṁ bhiṣak |
kṣaudrāṣṭa bhāgaṁ pippalyāḥ curṇārdha kuḍavānvitaṁ ||
śarkarārdhatulonmiśraṁ pakvaṁ snigdhaghaṭe sthitaṁ |
prapibetpāṇḍurogārto jīrṇo hitamitāśanaḥ ||
kāmilāpāṇḍuhr̥drogavātāsr̥gviṣamajvarān |
kāsahikkāruciśvāsāneṣo ariṣṭaḥ praṇāśayet ||

The Ingredients —
  • Dhatri phala Rasa — Amalaki — Emblica officinalis
  • Ksoudra — Honey
  • Pippali — Piper nigrum
  • Sarkara — Sugar
The Indications —
Dhatryarishta Dosage —

The general dosage is as follows —

  • For the children (Above 5 years of age) — 2.5 to 5 ml
  • For Adults — 5 ml to 10 ml

The doses — Twice a day with equal amount of water

The Time — Preferably after 30 minutes of taking food.

The Side effects and Contraindications — No known side effects and contraindications.
