Kantakari Ghrita

Kantakari ghrita is an Ayurvedic medicine for cough, asthma and other breathing disorders. In this formulation, Ghee is used as a base.

The Shloka —

घृतं रास्नाबलाव्योषश्वदंष्ट्राकल्कपाचितम् |
कण्टकारीरसे पानात् पञ्चकास निसूदनम् || १८७ ||

ghr̥taṁ rāsnābalāvyoṣaśvadaṁṣṭrākalkapācitam |
kaṇṭakārīrase pānāt pañcakāsa nisūdanam || 187 ||

Ingredients —

  1. Murcchita Ghrita
  2. Rasna — Pluchea lancelata
  3. Bala — Sida cordifolia
  4. Vyosha — Shunti (Zingiber officinale) + Maricha (Piper nigrum) + Pippali (Piper longum)
  5. Swadamshtra — Tribulus terristris
  6. Kashaya of Kantakari — Solanum xanthocarpum

  1. 5 types of Kasa (Cough)
  2. Shvasa (Asthma)
  3. Breathing disorders

Dosage of Kantakari Ghrita —

6 to 12 grams, two times a day with cow milk.
