Manibhadra Guda

Manibhadra Guda is a lehya, a semisolid preparation of drugs prepared with the addition of jaggery, sugar or sugar candy. It is named after a Yaksha Manibhadra who formulated it. Manibhadra Guda is used in Kushta (Skin diseases), Switra (Vitiligo), Swasa (Asthma), Kasa (Cough), Udara (Abdominal diseases), Arshas (piles), Meha, Pleeha (Splenomegaly), Krimi, Gulma (Tumors).

The Reference Shloka —

विडङ्गसारामलकाभयानां पलं पलं त्रीणिपलानि कुंभात् |
गुडस्य च द्वादशभागमेष जीतात्मना हंत्युपयुज्यमानः ||
कुष्टश्वित्रश्वासकासोदरार्शोमेहप्लीहग्रन्थिरुक् जंतुगुल्मान् |
सिद्धंयोगं प्राहयक्षो मुमूर्षों भिक्षोः प्राणान् माणिभद्रः किलेमम् ||

viḍaṅgasārāmalakābhayānāṁ palaṁ palaṁ trīṇipalāni kumbhāt |
guḍasya ca dvādaśabhāgamēṣa jītātmanā hantyupayujyamānaḥ ||
kuṣṭaśvitraśvāsakāsōdarārśōmēhaplīhagranthiruk jantugulmān |
siddhanyōgaṁ prāhayakṣō mumūrṣōṁ bhikṣōḥ prāṇān māṇibhadraḥ kilēmam ||

The Ingredients —

  • Vidanga Sara — Embelia ribes
  • Amalaki — Emblica officinalis
  • Abhaya — Terminalia chebula
  • Kumbha (Trivrit) — Operculina turpethum
  • Guda — Jaggery

The Dosage —

  • 5 – 10 grams once or twice a day
