
Parpatadyarishta is an Ayurvedic medicine used in the treatment of anemia and liver disorders. It contains about 5 to 10 % of self-generated alcohol. This naturally produced alcohol and the water present in this medicine act as a media and delivers alcohol and water soluble active herbal constituents to the body.

The shloka —
पर्पटस्य तुलामेकां चतुर्द्रोणे जले पचेत् |
क्वाथे पादावशेषे च शीते पलशतद्वयं ||
दध्याद् गुडस्य धातक्याः पलषोडशिका मता |
गुडूची मुस्तकं दार्वी दारुव्याघ्रीदुरालभा ||
चव्यं चित्रकमूलं च त्रिकटु कृमिनाशनं |
सर्वाण्येतानि संचूर्ण्य पलांशेन विनिक्षिपेत् ||
स्थापयित्वा ततो भाण्डे मासादूर्ध्वं पिबेदमुं |
पाण्डुगुल्मोदराष्टिला कामिलांश्च हलीमकं ||
प्लीहानं यकृतं शोफम् सर्वं विषमज्वरं |
एषोरिष्टो निहंत्याशु वृक्षमिन्द्राशनिर्यथा ||
parpaṭasya tulāmēkāṁ caturdrōṇē jalē pacēt |
kvāthē pādāvaśēṣē ca śītē palaśatadvayaṁ ||
dadhyād guḍasya dhātakyāḥ palaṣōḍaśikā matā |
guḍūcī mustakaṁ dārvī dāruvyāghrīdurālabhā ||
cavyaṁ citrakamūlaṁ ca trikaṭu kr̥mināśanaṁ |
sarvāṇyētāni sañcūrṇya palānśēna vinikṣipēt ||
sthāpayitvā tatō bhāṇḍē māsādūrdhvaṁ pibēdamuṁ |
pāṇḍugulmōdarāṣṭilā kāmilānśca halīmakaṁ ||
plīhānaṁ yakr̥taṁ śōpham sarvaṁ viṣamajvaraṁ |
ēṣōriṣṭō nihantyāśu vr̥kṣamindrāśaniryathā ||

Dosage —
12 – 24 ml one or two times a day, after food.
Side effects —
- Over dosage may result in gastric irritation, and burning sensation in the stomach.
