Tiktaka Ghrita

Tiktaka Ghrita is an herbal ghee formulation which is used for skin diseases. Tikta means Bitter in Sanskrit so basically this Ghrita or ghee is bitter in taste. It is very useful in snehana karma in Panchakarma as it helps lubricate the body and removes the toxins from the body.

The Ingredients –

Kalka Dravya –

  • Trayanthi – Gentiana kuroo
  • Musta – Cyperus rotundus
  • Bhunimba – Andrographis paniculata
  • Kalinga (Indrayava) – Holarrhena antidysenterica
  • Kana (Pippali) – Piper longum
  • Chandana – Santalum album

Sneha Dravya —

  • Sarpi (Ghrita) – 12 pala

Drava Dravya – 1 pala each

  • Patola – Trichosanthes dioica
  • Nimba – Azadirachta indica
  • Katuka – Piccrohiza kurrao
  • Darvi – Berberis aristata
  • Patha – Symplocos racemosa
  • Duralabha – Alhagi pseudoalhagi
  • Parpata – Fumaria indica
  • Trayamana – Gentiana kurro
  • Jala – 2 adhaka

Procedure — Prepare Ghrita with the above drugs viz, Kalka, Sneha and Drava dravyas taken in the specified quantity.

Usage –-

  • For Rashes – Apply Tiktaka ghrita on the affected area in the night and wash off in the morning.
