
Lohasava is an Ayurvedic tonic which comes under the category of Aasava. It is used in the management of Pandu (Anemia), Swayadhu (Inflammation), Gulma (tumors), Agni Vikara (Low digestive power and poor appetite), Arshas (Piles), Kushta (Skin diseases), Pleeha (Splenomegaly), Kandu (Itching), Swasa (Breathing troubles due to anemia or low iron level), Kasa ( Productive cough), Bhagandhara (Fistula), Arochaka (poor appetite) , Grahani (Irritable bowel syndrome), Hridroga (heart diseases).

The Reference Shloka —
लोहचूर्ण त्रिकटुकं त्रिफलां च यवानिकां |
विडंगं मुस्तकं चित्रं चतुस्संख्या पलं पृथक् ||
धातकी कुसुमानां तु प्रक्षिपेत्पलविंशतिं |
चूर्णीकृत्य ततः क्षौद्रं चतुष्षष्टिपलं क्षिपेत् ||
दद्याद्गुड तुलां तत्र जलद्रोणद्वयं तथा |
घृत भांडे विनिक्षिप्य निदद्यान्मासमात्रकं ||
लोहासवममुं मर्त्यः पिबेदग्निकरं परं |
पांडु श्वयथु गुल्मानि जठरान्यार्शसां रुजं ||
कुष्टं प्लीहामयं कंडु श्वासं कासं भगंदरं |
अरोचकं च ग्रहणीं हृद्रोगं च विनाशयेत् ||
lohacūrṇa trikaṭukaṁ triphalāṁ ca yavānikāṁ |
viḍaṁgaṁ mustakaṁ citraṁ catussaṁkhyā palaṁ pr̥thak ||
dhātakī kusumānāṁ tu prakṣipetpalaviṁśatiṁ |
cūrṇīkr̥tya tataḥ kṣaudraṁ catuṣṣaṣṭipalaṁ kṣipet ||
dadyādguḍa tulāṁ tatra jaladroṇadvayaṁ tathā |
ghr̥ta bhāṁḍe vinikṣipya nidadyānmāsamātrakaṁ ||
lohāsavamamuṁ martyaḥ pibedagnikaraṁ paraṁ |
pāṁḍu śvayathu gulmāni jaṭharānyārśasāṁ rujaṁ ||
kuṣṭaṁ plīhāmayaṁ kaṁḍu śvāsaṁ kāsaṁ bhagaṁdaraṁ |
arocakaṁ ca grahaṇīṁ hr̥drogaṁ ca vināśayet ||

- Loha Churna
- Trikatu — Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) + Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum) + Pippali (Long Pepper) – Piper Longum
- Triphala — Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) + Haritaki (Terminalia Chebula) + Bibhitaki (Terminalia Bellirica)
- Yavani — Trachyspermum ammi
- Vidanga — Embelia ribes
- Musta — Cyperus rotundus
- Chitraka — Plumbago Zeylanica
- Dhataki Pushpa — Woodfordia fruticosa
- Kshoudra — Honey
- Guda — Jaggery
- Jala – Water
